What is WLEEDA?
The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.
When was WLEEDA started?
In 1991 the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the International Association of Police Chiefs sponsored the first Wisconsin Law Enforcement Executive Development Course. Thanks to the efforts of Ray Galvin, who was in charge of Administrative Law Enforcement Training for the state, Wisconsin. Later in 1995, members of those original classes held the first annual WLEEDA conference in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Why was WLEEDA started?
Ray Galvin and others wanted to continue promoting professional, progressive, innovative and high quality police executive training in Wisconsin to develop the next round of law enforcement leaders.
Why should I join WLEEDA?
Membership is only $25/year. Members can and are encouraged to attend the annual Board of Directors meeting held during the annual training conference. At that meeting, the Board will elect new members to fill any vacancies on the board. The Board of Directors schedules and plans the conference for the following year and maintains records of all organization history. Being an active member of the board is a great way to network with other professionals and other jurisdictions around the state of Wisconsin. Get to know other professionals in your field and get involved! It's great to have contacts at other agencies.
I have a question about the upcoming WLEEDA conference. Whom do I contact?
Contact one of the board members. If the question relates to payment for the conference, contact the treasurer. Their information is found in the Contacts section.
